Onyx Holdings began life in 1971 as Monolith Electronics and over the last 36 years has gained a vast range of experience in a variety of market sectors including electronics, education, catering, automotive and defence.

Electronics

For more than thirty years Onyx Holdings group companies have been producing electronic components for supply both to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as end users.

Of particular note are Phi @ Falmouth's magnetic recording heads which are supplied world-wide for use in medical monitoring equipment, ATM cash machines, data recording, ticketing, vending machines and military applications.

P & P Technology Ltd produces customised electromagnetic, or radio frequency, screening and shielding products, including gaskets, vents and windows, with a particular specialty in those for the European mobile telecommunications industries.

The air-conditioning of electronic equipment racks is achieved using Caspian Climatic's Cool-Cab” modular, internally mounted range of maintenance free, air-conditioners - particularly important where rack mounted equipment is used in areas of high ambient temperatures.

Phi @ Falmouth is well-established in electro-mechanical assembly and offer full electronic subcontract manufacturing services at their ISO9001:2000 registered factories.

Education

Onyx Holdings group companies are manufacturing, installing and maintaining a range of equipment specifically geared to the needs of educational establishments.

Sentinel e-registration, a Tech-Rep UK Ltd product, is an electronic attendance registration system, which has been successfully used in schools across the UK for over 16 years. The original system was a swipe card system which enables pupils to register their attendance either lesson by lesson or morning and afternoon. In 2008, Touch Registration, a low cost biometrics electronic registration system that utilises the Sentinel software and the latest in USB fingerprint recognition technology, was launched as the latest addition to the Sentinel product range.

Phi @ Falmouth have been involved in the manufacture of electronic sports equipment and designs and produces ruggedised magnetic card readers for external use. Air-conditioning systems are a specialty of Caspian Climatic's service to educational establishments.

Catering

Our group companies are active in the design, manufacture and field maintenance of a variety of chilled and heated displays and equipment.

Caspian Climatic is the specialist climate control division of Phi @ Falmouth. They design and manufacture bespoke heated and chilled point of sale catering equipment for various companies including Pot Noodle and Ben & Jerry’s. They are also associated with the production of refrigerated trailers specifically designed for the growing needs of farmers markets where the stringent requirements of Environmental Health Regulations have to be satisfied with a light-weight durable method of display. Their wine & champagne coolers can be seen in restaurants around the country. Point of sale products are usually tailored in small to medium production runs to meet every customer's need from the small producer up to multi-national customers.

P & P Technology manufactures screening components for many of the world's microwave ovens.

Automotive

Phi @ Falmouth manufacture ABS Brake Sensors for commercial vehicle trailers which are used all over the world as a proven and reliable device for detecting the potential danger of jack-knifing. Sensor products are also produced for requirements in the car after-markets. Within the UK we also produce cable harnesses and wiring looms for automobiles as well as electromagnetic shielding components used in screening of signal interference at P & P Technology’s facility in Essex.

Defence

Phi @ Falmouth Ltd, working closely with SCIF Solutions Inc, USA, is now designing, developing and manufacturing high quality, innovative, second generation modular EMI/RFI Screened Rooms, which in the US are more commonly referred to as SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities), for major defence clients. Designed to stand alone and fit retrospectively into existing buildings, containers or trailers, these rooms provide secure areas for highly confidential information to be shared and discussed. Air conditioning for the rooms is installed by Caspian Climatic.

P & P Technology's EMC shielding products are used for a wide range of applications by major players in the defence industry.
